The Cathedral School Leo Club
The Cathedral School Leo Club is a community service club under the sponsorship of Townsville Northern Suburbs Lions Club. Students from Years 7 to 12 can join the Leo Club and get involved in fund-raising and hands-on activities that benefit the wider community.
LEO stands for Leadership, Experience and Opportunity, but members believe it also means Let's Enjoy Ourselves. Popular projects include the annual Easter visits to the Children's Ward at the Hospital, the Relay for Life a the Townsville Sports Ground and the Santa Claus visits to the infants in the ELC and Junior School.
Leos also sell food and run lunch-time activities at school to raise money for worthy charities. Last year, funds were donated to Lions Mobility Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis support group, Queensland Cancer Fund, Australian Paralympic team, and Australian Lions Drug and Alcohol Foundation.
Leo Club members gain valuable experience in running meetings, taking executive positions, planning projects and working as a team. Bus most importantly, they have fun and work happily, knowing that their efforts are making life better for someone worse off than themselves!
