The group of students will spend time in England and Scotland touring and competing in a series of matches against local UK high schools, some of which they have been visiting since the program’s inception.
Strong relationships have been established with the schools with 20 years of reciprocal visits. Beaconsfield High School, England made the trip to Cathedral earlier this year and students are looking forward to re-connecting during their visit there.
Director of Sport for The Cathedral School, Mr John Rauch said “The purpose of this tour is to provide an opportunity for students to tour overseas and play quality rugby and netball in a different part of the world. As the tour only departs every second year, it is also a reward to the students for two years of effort and contribution to the school in a range of academic and extracurricular activities.”
“Throughout the tour the students will be billeted with host families which will allow them to be immersed in the UK culture and family environment. One of the biggest highlights of the trip is seeing the genuine friendships the students make with their host families in such a short time” added Mr Rauch.
The UK Rugby Union and Netball tour will depart on Tuesday 12 September 2017.
