Senior School

The Senior School experience represents the final and very important phase of a student’s education. Students of The Cathedral School are prepared for life-long learning through engaging classroom and broader community experiences and they are inspired by a talented and professional teaching staff.

Teachers at The Cathedral School are dedicated to the pastoral care and educational well-being of every individual student. Professional growth is actively encouraged and facilitated through Mentor Groups that provide professional reflection, goal setting and support.

The students in our school are remarkable young men and women. On a daily basis, they are genuinely friendly, polite, respectful and helpful. Year 10, 11 and 12 students flourish in a supportive and caring environment where they develop great relationships and provide outstanding role modelling to the whole school community.

There is a diversity among the student population from local Townsville residents to boarders from rural and remote communities, delightful indigenous students and international students from Hong Kong, PNG and the Solomon Islands. The cultural diversity of our students is beneficial to all students in developing mutual tolerance, friendship and understanding.

Students embrace the incredibly broad opportunities on offer. The Cathedral School prioritises development of the whole child. The faith and spiritual growth of each student is encouraged and students experience amazing Outdoor Education opportunities that build resilience, self-esteem and team cohesion. An active lifestyle is encouraged through sport with excellent programs in Rowing, Netball and Swimming. Outstanding Performing Arts and Instrumental Music programs provide a stimulating and creative learning experience.

Senior School students are provided with education in leadership and they experience a broad range of opportunities to demonstrate their leadership skills. Our Graduates are exceptional citizens who serve their community and strive to excel in their career pathways.

It is a privilege to be part of The Cathedral School community and students, staff and parents work harmoniously to ensure we maintain our proud traditions and future opportunities in a supportive environment focussed on continuous improvement in all that we do.
